Fight for Premies

Today I dedicate my blog to the March For Babies! I haven't had time to blog about anything lately, but today, Nov. 17 is dedicated to raising awareness of the crisis. It is the day we fight — because babies shouldn’t have to.

I became involved with The March For Babies when I worked at Bright Horizons as a Preschool Teacher, we raised money as a team and we walked as a team. After I became a Stay at Home Mom, I started my own team,  not because I had a premie or even knew someone that had a premie, but because I fell in love with what it stood for!

Everyday, there is a baby that is born too early, they end up living in the NICU for the first part of their lives. Most of them make it home after a while, but some do not. I've met a couple mother's, father's, families who have lost their babies, due to premature births. I can't imagine how that would feel, or even how it would feel seeing your baby so tiny, hooked up to wires and monitors, and being so helpless, there was nothing that you could do. But I can only imagine how it feels when your premie grows up to be a toddler and all the milestones they reach and then goes to preschool and then on!

I want to fight to help the babies, I want to help raise awareness around me and make people know that these things happen, even if it doesn't hot close to home!

I am walking again with my team this year, I am proud of all my teammates from last year who did such a great job in raising money, but I realize that the most important part is not to raise money, but to raise awareness!!! Help spread the word! Become part of March for Babies, if not with me, form your own team or join someone's!!!

One day, all babies will be born healthy!
